Biking & Hiking

While there are no official bike paths in the Henderson Beach State Park, cyclists can enjoy the mile-long paved road that stretches through the park. Additionally, biking along the beach at the end of the park is a great way to enjoy the park’s natural beauty. Helmets are required by law for visitors under 16 years of age and no biking is permitted on the park’s boardwalks.

Camping

The park features over 60 campsites that can accommodate anything from a small tent to a large RV. Heated restrooms, on-site showers, coin-operated washers and dryers, and vending machines are all available for use. A three-quarter mile walking trail meanders its way through the shifting sand dunes from the campsite. Embrace the Florida Gulf Coast wilderness in an up close and personal way!

Fishing

Destin is built for fishing. Visitors can try their luck at surf fishing, where pompano, redfish, flounder, catfish, and whiting are all popular catches. There is no fishing permitted between the boardwalks, and bait and tackle can be purchased just outside the park. Weather

Florida boasts mild to hot temperatures year-round, making any time of year perfect for a visit. However, if you wish to catch the best of Henderson State Park’s weather, April to May is your best shot. The weather during this time of year hovers around 70-80 degrees, so you miss the peak heat and traffic of summer and the relatively chill months of winter.  Pop-up rain showers are relatively common so make sure you pack a rain jacket!
